Can we vote George Bush out of office now? Right now?

Frickin' George Bush. Frickin' useless war. Frickin' unnecessary debt. Frickin' falling dollar. Frickin' oil prices. Frickin' credit crisis. Frickin' bad jobs report. Frickin' falling markets......

Oh, but he has a new plan now.......

  • That kind of cursing is about the depth of my macroeconomic reasoning, so if you comment, don't expect too much intellect in response.

I'm at the Yosimite Sam point, "Gol Darned Frickin Frackin....."

  • from the link:
"The president did not unveil any new proposals during his speech, nor even hint whether he believes any are necessary."

I'd cast this as "hand wringing in public". Or perhaps as "if you can't beat the critics, join 'em".

Krugman said months ago that it was probably too late at that point to do much, and that we should avoid the temptation of quick fixes. I agree. Bush dithered, grinned, and painted happy pictures during the time when we could have softened the blow of the sub-prime crisis. As per usual, we now are supposed to forget about how we got here and focus on how to get out.

The falling dollar is mostly due to the incredibly huge amount of Treasury securities Bush sold to the Chinese to keep the GWOT "off the books", and we now know how "vital" that effort was. Supply increases, price decreases.

  • The point is, almost all decisions made by the White House.
