Little Scotty....
Politico got an early copy of Scott McClellan's book, and he definitely goes "off message" at some points.
Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” and took a “permanent campaign approach” to governing at the expense of candor and competence......
“History appears poised to confirm what most Americans today have decided: that the decision to invade Iraq was a serious strategic blunder. No one, including me, can know with absolute certainty how the war will be viewed decades from now when we can more fully understand its impact. What I do know is that war should only be waged when necessary, and the Iraq war was not necessary.”

I think everyone but the Kool-Aid drinking (or Kool-Aid mixing) neo-cons will have memoirs similar to Scotty's. Not that they'll all write memoirs, but still...
Scotty didn't come form the Regent College, throw-his-own-mother-under-the-bus-for-the-cause, crusader wing.
Still, this is important to the cause of historic truth that someone in his position (presumably with inside-knowledge) would come out so publicly and strongly. Is he trying to purge his soul of the guilt of abetting evil through silence?

He also got burned by Rove, and left without the usual after administration position/future.
They used him and threw him out.
