Car bomb in Turkey

I think there can be little question that this is the PKK acting in response to the continuing Turkish bombings in Iraq.
A car bomb apparently targeting military personnel killed four people and wounded 68 others Thursday in the Kurdish-dominated southeastern city of Diyarbakir, officials said.

This is the third bombing in Turkey in the last two weeks.

  • Guerilla warfare tactics. The Turks can probably keep a lid on it but it's hard to see how they can stop it altogether.

  • I agree. I don't think they can stop it. There's just too big of a Kurdish population inside Turkey for the PKK to operate out of. Even if they were to completely cut off the border somehow, which I don't think they could, the PKK has been prepping for this for years, so the assets and supplies are likely already in Turkey.

The Turks are in a vicious cycle. They have to respond, but everytime they do, it gets worse.

  • That's a fair point about Kurdish support, but it only takes a small percentage to support an insurgency/terrorism.

The question is whether the mass of Kurds silently allow it or turn in the PKK folks.

The whole conflict is very complex and deep historically, and I claim no expertise, but thus far, the main body of the Kurds in Turkey don't appear to be turning the PKK sympathizers over to the Turks.
