Bringing Wolfowitz back
One of those things I never understood is how coaches keep getting jobs when all they do is lose at one organization after another?
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has offered Wolfowitz, a prime architect of the Iraq War, a position as chairman of the International Security Advisory Board, a prestigious State Department panel, according to two department sources who declined to be identified discussing personnel matters..

It's a royalty kind of thing. You see our self -- and your kind -- as being separate and above the rest of humanity. I don't know. Maybe it's more of a mob think. Once you're a mad man, you're a mad man. And the family only deals with the family. Nothing changes that unless you rat out the family.

There's also the possibility that no one else of stature would take a profile post in this administration.
It is interesting that Condi Rice would "invite" a Rumsfeld/Cheney guy to head her panel.
There must be something backroom we're not seeing.

At this point I think the admin has given up all pretense of looking for qualified people to fill positions. It's all openly incestuous at point.
Good question about why Rice would invite one of the grumpy old men, though. A bone to Cheney? We'll never really know, will we.

Did she have a choice? Was it part of some deal?
She effectively dropped a spy in her own midst.

I was just thinking.... When exactly did the American White House become the Kremlin circa 1970.
