Israel wants it known that they're ready for a Syrian airstrike
This is a weird article that I'm assuming is aimed at deterrence.
Or maybe it's just an old fashioned "red scare" article designed to bring the populous to the government.
THE defensive missile shield around Israel’s Dimona nuclear reactor was placed on red alert 30 times last week amid fears of an airstrike by Syria....
In a highly unusual move, the officers in charge of the missiles were permitted to talk to Israeli state television about their preparations....
Or maybe it's just an old fashioned "red scare" article designed to bring the populous to the government.

i can't honestly see that syria would be contemplating such a thing becuase the response would be massive.

Right. And, would their jets even get through?
Maybe they might fire missiles and overwhelm the defenses, but you wouldn't think that older Russian jets would be an effective attack.

Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. The Syrians don't need to do anything.

Yeah. Just one airliner a little off course.

That was my first reaction: could Syria even mount an effective air attack on Israel?
I doubt it.

Maybe one way..... I don't know.
You figure they're probably running Russian jets which on a straight shot might have a slight chance to get through.
Probably missiles would be the better shot, but they'd have to fire alot of them to overcome the defenses, and I would think it's near impossible to prep that without the Israelis knowing.
