Picture of the Day
(A car drives past a billboard showing the image of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Karachi. Bhutto has vowed to restore democracy to Pakistan on the eve of her homecoming after eight years in exile, defying Al-Qaeda threats and government pressure to delay. (AFP/Rizwan Tabassum))
(Still no word on whether Musharraf's election will stand.)

So the CIA couldn't make the effort to translate that billboard into one of the local languages? If you're going to do propaganda that coincides with regime change try and make more of an effort.

Matt, I was wondering about the English as well.
Michael, Read your post, and I've been wondering along the same lines. Why would this "democratic" leader come in to legitimize Musharraf?
The two reasons I see are either promises of graft, etc or an attempt to position for after Musharraf (whenever that might be.)
I really don't know enough about Pakistani politics to really dig that far in and comment, but yeah, I've been wondering.
