Picture of the Day - Electability
Generally speaking, the party that is picking their candidate on his (or her) "electability" is usually in a whole lot of trouble.
"Electability" talk is a sign of a party that is grasping at straws because it expects to get mauled in the polls.

My belief is that it's going to be presented as reachable until the Dems run the 60 second ad playing back the Bush presidency and asking "Do you really want 4 more years of this?"
That will be the body blow to any Republican candidate, because no matter how much they claim independence, none of the majors has actually stepped away from Bush in any appreciable way on policy.

Rudy is running as Bush III - kick ass, don't thin, don't read, don't worry about anything except looking weak.
That works in the GOP primary. I will be very surprised if it works in the general, even against Clinton.
And then there is that quote from 2004: "I looked at Bernie and said 'Thank God George Bush is president.'"

Frankly, none of the Repub candidates are building much distance. Giuliani is the nearest on terror and rights, and McCain the nearest on the war, but none of them are stepping away from any of it.
If any of them win, they'll have to work pretty hard to try and pry themselves out of it.
The underlying problem is that a majority of Republicans still support Bush, so how do you use them through the primary, but not burn your cred with everyone else.
