From the NYTimes: "The total of American deaths in April and May was the highest of any two-month period since the war began, and the 80 percent ratio caused by makeshift explosives is higher than it has ever been, up from 50 percent in January."

I'm sure you've seen it, but there's a great Moyers clip on Think Progress with an excerpt from then-president Johnson lamenting the kind of action this administrations boldly and eagerly charge into.

No, I hadn't seen it yet, been out all day, but I often go back and think of the way such things are discussed on the Nixon tapes.
