There are benchmarks!? Naaah. Their more, what you'd call hypothetical guidelines.
If "the surge" is failing, the only option is to continue "the surge."

When this story broke last night, I looked back for the first time the phrase "benchmarks" appeared on my blog. This is what I wrote at the time.

This is about as good a move as we can expect out of this administration, but why do I have the feeling they'll still fuck it up.
