Remember that Al Qaeda figure who escaped from the prison on the Bagram air base in Afghanistan? Well, he's turned up. He's now along the Pakistan Afghanistan border leading attacks on the US.
And that's not all,
But the problem is the Iranians, not that Pakistan is providing safe haven to Al Qaeda and the Taleban.
Because neither Al Qaeda or the Taleban have ever attacked Americans. Right?
An al Qaeda figure who escaped from a U.S. military prison 18 months ago has re-emerged as a field commander leading attacks on U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, ABC News has learned.
And that's not all,
"There are indications that from that central al Qaeda headquarters inside Pakistan on the Afghan border, orders are going to cells in places like the United Kingdom," said ABC News consultant Clarke.
But the problem is the Iranians, not that Pakistan is providing safe haven to Al Qaeda and the Taleban.
Because neither Al Qaeda or the Taleban have ever attacked Americans. Right?

Well, Pakistan doesn't have nukes...no, wait a minute, they do don't they. Hmmm could it be that Iran has all that Hummer juice underneath the ground? Or is that justa coincidence?

How long can we continue to ignore the fact that those we profess as our friends, are in fact the protectors of the most dangerous agents to the actual security of our homeland?
Eventually, as history has repeatedly shown, the cold jaws of reality will snap down on great empires of denial. And then what?

Until either the major media presses the question or we are attacked again.
However, assuming a rational enemy that is really after the goals they claim, Al Qaeda is not likely to attack the US right now because their goals are being met. Attacking the US runs the big risk of the US really recommitting to attack Al Qaeda, and they are having success at their current bleeding strategy.
So, we're waiting on the media.
How's that likely to go?

Good points... though incredibly sad.
Al Qaeda may be mad, but they aren't stupid. Their leaders may be radical, but they are not necessarilly reactionary.
The buzz I'm hearing regarding al Qaeda, is that the focus seems to be on disrupting European countries. There seems to be more ghettoizing in Europe than in the US. It would serve us well to embrace our Muslim brothers (domestically), if for no other reason than to preemptively diffuse radicalization here. Unfortunately, I think the sectarian, fundamentalist Christian base desires just the opposite...

I really haven't been watching the Al Qaeda propaganda enough to know, but I would guess they're also acting in Europe to try and split them away from the US.
With EU popular opinion being what it is towards the US, events taken there would be likely to cast some blame/division towards the US fracturing hwatever tepid support there still is. (Assuming it's "small attacks" and not a nuclear device or something.)
