(Insert your vilest personal obscenity here)
Now, Lieberman blackmails the Dems for a committee chair.
Look, I didn't really care about the Connecticut Senate race, but this is vile politics.
Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut said yesterday that he will caucus with Senate Democrats in the new Congress, but he would not rule out switching to the Republican caucus if he starts to feel uncomfortable among Democrats.
Look, I didn't really care about the Connecticut Senate race, but this is vile politics.

I mentioned something about this when they called the Senate. I asked, "are they counting Lieberman as a Democrat?"
I was just being kind of flippant, but there you go.

Some of the anti-Lieberman lefties have been floating the idea of him flipping for awhile, but no matter what he's promised on the other side, they would still negelect him.
He has all interests in being a Dem. I think this is just a threat so he can hold his postions. (and maybe a little retribution.)
But, it's very vile.

Lieberman switches..he becomes a 6-year lame duck, over night...and a "leper" on both sides of the aisle to boot! He knows this but who can blame him for negotiating to get the best deal he can get in the Senate heirarchy? I say, give Joe and Bernie (Sanders) what ever they want...for the next two years. There are other fish to fry, of far greater importance.

Anonymous, I agree. This is all an unworkable ploy from his side, but it does have the effect of agitating Senate leadership and that, I think is the real threat here. IF he's willing to say this, he's pointing out just how far he'll go to make things difficult.
LoC, the fact that there is a Dem governor there who would choose his replacement did cross my mind.
