  • I keep wondering what Coke's getting out of this. Because that plant has a fair chance of at the very least being the target of attacks.

    It's a high profile, high risk investment for how much business in Afghanistan?

  • Coke has always been a pioneer. When I was in Mozambique it was the only American product I saw (except for one Holiday Inn, again, third world pioneers). They just want to be first.

    The target audience is wanna-be Americans.

  • That's an interesting point that Coke is acting as the "bait" for people who want to be American.

    It's actually quite fitting that a consumer product would take the forefront instead of the ideas of Jefferson, Madison, et. al.

    Because as we've learned in the US over the last few years, consumer products have more protection than the true fenceposts of individual liberty.
