Blumenthal's hit piece on Rice
And you wonder how we got into this mess....
Short but scathing. (It's Salon so you gotta watch the ad.)
This May, as the situation in Iraq drastically worsened, Rice directed the senior staff that she wants no more reporting from U.S. embassies. She announced in the meeting, according to one participant, that people write memos only for each other and that no one else reads them. She said she didn't and wouldn't read them. Instead of writing reports, the diplomats should "sell America," she insisted. "We are salesmen for America!" ......
Short but scathing. (It's Salon so you gotta watch the ad.)

Good article. Thanks for the pointer. "Female enabler," indeed!

I thought so. It contains the implications of the veiled relationship.

Great find. Scathing and frightening. Frightening because it confirms all the wild caricatures of this severely emotionally disturb man are true. A political bubble boy with a God complex and a tight group of fawning manipulators.

I thought the bit about her not having a Deputy really showed concretely how this cult is directly impacting the functioning of government beyond the policy choices.
I also find it inetersting that this narrative paints Bush as crazy, but it also absolves him of some responsibility by blaming his "court."
As I read somewhere, the Buck doesn't even slow down on Bush's desk.
