Dear CNN....

We are at war. I know it's not the ratings grabber that Israel Lebanon is/was, but there are actual Americans getting wounded and killed in Iraq RIGHT NOW.

On the CNN front page, a big block picture story on the Israeli pullout, then,

Top Stories: (3:36 PM Eastern)

Iraq is mentioned one time, way down the page in the "world" section and that is related to the retraction of the ludicrous natural gas explosion story.

I mean, can imagine in WWII if stories about Oprah and Superman's sexuality, or Britney, or puppies, or a call girl ring, or an anti KFC protester were on the front pages while the war was relegated to the International section.

I know I keep going on about this, but I just can't believe it.

(Later: If you want a story, CNN, how about the fact that 2 US soldiers died today? Numbers 2,600 and 2,601.)

  • Could it be that WWII was a just war and legal war, where America entered to stop fascism? While WWIII is all about America flexing it's muscle as the only super power left, like a bunch of fascists?
Besides, America would rather hide it's head in the cewlebrity filled clouds than examine how we were lied to at the start of the war.
How could they wave a flag then?

  • Just think how Afghanistan feels at this point. They are third billing at best.

I wonder if they will ever find rocket evidence. If they do, it will be too late.

  • What I'm wondering is what happened in the story I was following last night and this morning about the two Fox Journalists (a contradiction in terms, I know) who were kidnapped yesterday in Gaza? The story seems to have disappeared.

  • Praguetwin, I don't know. Whatever the truth turns out to be, the lie will have done more damage.

Lew, I know. As far as I know, they're still being held. I think part of the difference comparing it to Pearl or Carroll, is that no one expects them to be harmed.

And, as far as I know, there hasn't been a statement issued.

  • Afghanistan barely makes the crawl these days.

CNN is crap, and has been for a while. First, there's that Roland Headly (anyone?) wannabe, Anderson Cooper (Mr. AC!). Then there's Wolf's ridiculous Whateverit'ssupposedtobe Room. The they give airtime to creeps like William Bennett, as if he has any speck of credibility left. Please.

  • I just can't believe it. The stark contrast between the 24 hour constant Israel coverage (not our war/no US troops/citizens in real danger.)

And you're right about CNN, but they're the standard. And they're so bad about actual news.

Especially when compared to CNN International.

I just remember the Ted Turner days when they were about the news. (I still miss Bernie Shaw.)
