Why aren't people who have kids/brothers/husbands/wives in the military speaking out more? Must the death toll rise to Viet Nam years, before people wake up? They say brain is the only thing that seperates us from animals (I tend to disagree that we're different, but I'm a biologist, and I digress). If we have them, why don't we use them?!

I strongly agree with your "separates us from animals" point. One of my core beliefs is that we developed our ego, or sense of identity, or sense of specialness as a biological adaptation. Basically, we're just conceited apes.
