Picture of the Day - 2 - Fearless Dems

Harry Reid made a speech yesterday titled, The Real State of our Union, and it got me thinking.

Look, whether you like Hillary Clinton, or Howard Dean, or Charles Schumer, they believe.



They are fearless, and they believe in their cause.

After all the fear and negativism of the Bush administration, that's the way the Dems will win elections. Strength and Hope.

That's what America wants. An honest man or woman standing up to say "I am unafraid, and I will take you to a better tomorrow."

  • I think he is depressed. Harry Reid strikes me as somewhat of an idealist in that he truly believes what he thinks is best for the country.

    So, watching the Republicans git his/my country is a bit distressing.

  • Not sure I would group Schumer and Clinton in your "fearless" category. They are two of the Dems that I've quite frustrated with as they will change a position based on the direction of the wind. Oh, and don't forget that Reid voted FOR the new bankruptcy bill.

    But don't mind me. I'm having a BDD (bad democrat day) whereby I'm pretty sour about politicians in general.

  • I agree with greyhair... Clinton has equivocated too much. If she really was "fearless," she would have voted against the Iraq war.

  • I'll give it to ya that Clinton has waffled a bit, but she's strong. And I think you're gonna see her start to come out this year as strong in the 2008 runup. No matter what you think of the overblown "plantation" comment, she didn't back down from it.

    Now, as to whether she belives all the things she's strong about is another matter.

    And, perhaps I was just overly moved by Harry Reid. I really like this guy. He's quiet and unassuming, barely raises his voice, but he strikes me as having an honest belief that what he's doing is right.

    But what do I know, short of Bill Clinton, Paul Tsongas was my favorite Dem politician in the last twenty years. So, I may not be the best judge.

    I loved Droopy.

  • The Democrats are hardly any different from the Republicans. Sure being in opposition allows them to throw impressive shapes, but actions speak louder than words or poses.

    In any case the religious right are seriously organised. The liberals seem to be sitting on their arses waiting for the next election.

    Unless the American Left (which I use in a very wide sense) can break from the Dems you're fucked. If you're fucked the country's fucked and if America's fucked where does that leave the rest of us?
