Good story. Didn't the commanders, at least on the allied side, threaten many of their subordinates for taking part in the truce? Just goes to show the people are more powerful, more decent, than those who lead them.

Yes, the commander's did throw absolute fits over this. There's even some great communications from the near frontline British commanders wondering how the war could possibly be continued after all these men got to know each other.
