Official A in a previous Fitzgerald investigation

Just ran across this in some of the blog coverage. The ill-defined "official A" draws an interesting parallel to Fitzgerald's use of similar language is the George Ryan prosecution.

When asked, Fitzgerald would not comment on whether "Official A" was Ryan.......

"I cannot answer that question," Fitzgerald said when asked about any Ryan involvement. "We cannot discuss people not charged in the indictment."
Just interesting.

  • I heard last night on the radio that "A" is Rove, as confirmed by someone in Rove's camp anonymously.

I have no idea why Rove was not indicted.

  • I think it has to do with that mysterious WaPo paragraph. Fitzgerald was negotiating with Rove's lawyers when suddenly they threw something up that "gave Fitzgerald pause" over indicting Rove.

I don't know what that means. Did he offer evidence against someone else or some sort of exculpatory eviddence?

Don't know, but that's obviously the key.
