They have to be careful because of the politics. Certainly, they would say Plame wasn't covert and try to minimize it, but are they really politically able to conduct a executive privilege war right now?<BR/><BR/>They might just jettison Cheney and blame evrything on him. If Fitzgerald actually gets an indictment, do you think that the executive will claim immunity from prosecution? Pretty unlikely I think since this would involve official misconduct.
